Morning Coffee

One of the best things about the weekend - time for coffee.

These cups are my favourite vintage coffee cups at the moment, perfect for a morning caffeine hit. They are Royal Adderley Masquerade, I love the 1950/60's geometric design - if only I could find a coffee pot to match.

My front door

When we first moved into our house we had an ugly metal framed door which I was desperate to replace. Eventually we found an old wooden door in a reclamation yard, the only thing missing was the stained glass.

Luckily I have a very good friend who is a stained glass artist and she offered to help out. She came up with a great design based on an original Edwardian window. I love the red cranberry and the pale green glass best.

Although the door was completed several years ago and even though I look at the stained glass everyday I still really love it and appreciate the hard work my friend put in - thanks Flo.

Have a look....

A busy weekend

After spending most of the week in bed with a terrible cold I wasn't sure if I was going to make it to the Village Vintage Fair on Saturday, but my lovely husband offered to help me with all the lifting and driving, so armed with paracetamol and a large flask of tea I decided to go.

It turned out to be a great day. I met lots of lovely people, sold lots of stock and got inspired by the other stall holders.

On the stall opposite me was Jane Delacey who designs lovely underwear. Her latest collection is inspired by the 20's and 30's.  Checkout her website www.janedelacey.co.uk

Vanessa and Hannah from Trailer Trash Vintage based in Lewes had a stall close by and were selling 40's and 50's clothes and accessories. Check them out on Facebook.

I also met Emma who is just down the road in Bexhill and sells similar items to me... and last but not least the event organisers Lucy and Darcey from Village Vintage www.village-vintage.co.uk

Once home it was time to get ready for a visit from our lovely friend Pete. We had some great fun with these masks of 'vintage' stars. Who do like best?

Village Vintage Fair

Here is my Silverhill Vintage stall at the Village Vintage Fair in Cuckfield. I'll post more when it's all over and I have a bit more time.

Love Day

It's not only Valentines Day but also the anniversary of moving into our house - 7 years ago. To celebrate we have opened a nice bottle of wine and eaten a luxury steak dinner.

For a vintage feel to the evening I brought my husband some old LPs to play on our very retro record player.

Elvis Love songs, Tom Jones- the original sex God and a couple of Country classics to finish the night off.

Trip to Brighton

This weekend I took a trip to Brighton to help my great friend Lizi celebrate her birthday. We've been pals since school so I suppose you could say it's a vintage friendship.

A while ago Lizi brought me a vintage bag as a present and our little mini break gave me the perfect opportunity to use it. It's just the right size to fit all the essentials a girl needs for an overnight stay.

Red - my favourite colour

I love anything red, it's my favourite colour of all time. I often wear a bit of red to brighten up an outfit, even my car is red so when I found this cute vintage red purse I knew it was for me. It's probably from the 70's and reminds me of the ones my mum used to have.

It has plenty of room for coins and notes, even some mini pockets for stamps, but there is one small draw back... not even one slot for a credit card, bank card, reward card or rectangular bit of plastic anywhere... hmm things have changed.

Vintage thoughts

Today has been pretty hectic but only in my regular job. I had lots of meetings and no time for a lunch hour. This is my normal time for a quick trip to the local charity shops to see if I can find any unloved vintage items.

But I did get my very first Silverhill Vintage postcards and business cards delivered today from the printer, which is very exciting.

What do you think?

Wednesday 8 February 2012

This is the first post for my Silverhill Vintage Blog.  It's taken me ages to get to grips with the blog set-up as I never seem to find the time to 'really' sit down and work through everything properly, but today I have finally got myself sorted.

Well... I guess this is meant to be about Silverhill Vintage not my trials and tribulations of setting up the blog.

Today I found a couple of lovely mini pudding bowls which will be perfect to take along to the Village Vintage Fair next weekend 18th February at Cuckfield Old School.  They will go very nicely with these...
